AFP confident in protecting Marawi residents despite recent ops against Maute remnants Army men increase security in Marawi

Col. Romeo Brawner Jr, commander of the 103 rd “Haribon” Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army expressed confidence and reassured the public in AFP’s capability of protecting and keeping their peace. This is despite a recent firefight that ensued between military forces and Maute-ISIS remnants in the town of Sultan Dumalondong in Lanao del Sur.

According to Brawner, recent operations were deliberately conducted and will have no negative effect on the city’s peace and order. Marawi’s security forces consist of units from the AFP, PNP, and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) who work together in preventing the spread of violence in the once war-torn city.

Brawner also said they are keeping their eyes on the remaining terrorist forces to keep them from spreading wrong ideologies and violence in the now recuperating city of Marawi.
