TIANJIN, China – The Tianjin Municipal
People’s Government is set to officially open the National Maritime Museum and
the China-Singapore Friendship Library located in New Binhai Area.
The National Maritime Museum, which is positioned as the only national-level comprehensive marine museum in China, will be open to the public next month. It had its trial opening last May 1.
The three-story museum exhibits marine life from ancient to present period. It also has a marine ecology hall, marine culture space, marine astronomy, Chinese marine civilization, as well as research and education center.
The National Maritime Museum covers 15 hectares of land in the eastern coastal tourism area of China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City in New Binhai Area. The building is 23,000 square meters big, while the exhibition area covers 23,000 of the space.
It is also the largest maritime museum in China.
Meanwhile, after its trial operation in November last year, the China-Singapore Friendship Library will be officially open to the public early next year.
Still located in China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, the library is constructed by the governments of China and Singapore.
The China-Singapore Friendship Library is also envisioned as a smart library, using robots and artificial intelligence technology.
The library has a Singapore section, Children Eco-Library, and multimedia service area.
Once opened to the public, the five-story library will contain 1.5 million books and one million archives.
The National Maritime Museum and the China-Singapore Friendship Library will be both free to the public. (PNA)
